Doctor and Lawyer React To Grey’s Anatomy Malpractice Episode

Watch the second half of this episode review on Legal Eagle’s channel here:

Legal Eagle and I went head to head last year to see which was harder, Med School or Law School. We decided to bury the hatchet this time and join our forces to react to the popular medical malpractice episode of Grey’s Anatomy, Season 10 Episode 9 “Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word”. I brought my medical knowledge about a surgery gone wrong for a snowboarder who loses his legs above the knee. Devin Stone brought his legal expertise to break down what was accurate and what was fake during the trial of Dr. Callie Torres.

I LOVE reading your comments and take your suggestions seriously. If there’s a subject you want me to discuss or something you’d like for me to react to, leave a comment down below. Many of my videos have been born out of suggestions directly from you, so don’t hold back!

Yep, me and my family saved a 90 year old man from dying after he had passed out while going for a swim and went under the water. We did chest compressions for 15 minutes and a bit of mouth to mouth but mainly chest compressions. He came to after 15 minutes and only suffered pnemoniua and some broken ribs.

It’s disgusting how they put a value on a persons life. Back in 1995 my Dads life was worth 1.3 million. He’s been gone now for 25 years and he’s missed so much. I’d love to now look the Doctor in her face and ask her how in the hell she can even look at her own reflection. When the Doctor came out and told my mom “the surgery itself was a success, but” I should have punched her square in the face at that very second. What kind of Doctor starts off like that telling a persons family their husband and father is gone? Im not typically a vengeful person but, I hope her life has been frigging miserable! She don’t deserve happiness when she robbed us of ours.

Why not have it in law that if an entitled patient writes a review online criticising the doctor, it is an automatic assumption that they have waived the right to privacy. Why shouldn't a doctor be allowed to defend themselves? Also: How can you tell it's badly infected when you blurred the scene?

I love that you did comments on GA, but really with the way you are watching you are missing a whole bunch of points. The way time works in GA is very different, so when you say things like “they send him home with post op fever” like no.... and you skipped the part where they found out that the peterson joint the patient requested turns out actually causing a lot of post op infections in other cases as well.

NURSES!! I was yelling at the screen about all the doc stuff for sure, but the NURSING STAFF (including any techs/aides- though we don’t have those in the part of the world I practice) check neurovascular observations almost obsessively. And we are trained enough to know if someone has a cardiac history such as an AVR, to keep an eye on that, not to mention how much we are pushed and reminded, along with our medical colleagues, to pick up sepsis. No offence to the brilliance of surgeons, but it’s the poor resident or on call docs who would’ve been escalating this, after the nurses had immediately advocated for this man. Aaaaaaaagh!

I hope Dr Mike is right and they normally do more check-ups but I know with c sections where I live in Canada you have the surgery and then get a follow-up at 6 weeks and that is it and the same with my episiotomy. I had to fight the doctors to look at it after a week because it had reopened and they kept telling me no one could help me and there is only one hospital where I live.
